Don O'Bell Sensei Passes Away
Posted 10/29/2000 7:32pm [from Jun Akiyama]
Larry Novick sensei of ACE Aikido Club let me know that:
"Last night (October 28th 2000) at 2am, my teacher, friend, and co-founder of the ACE
Aikido Dojo, Don O'Bell, passed away. Don had been in Aikido for a
good 30 years, starting his training when he was 45 years old. He was
very close to Tohei Sensei at one time, as he was able to spend a lot
of time with him in the early '70s when Tohei would come to LA for
extended stays. Over the years Don gave those of us who know him a
true gift in the way he saw, and taught, Aikido. Not only that, but
even well into his 70s he could outlast anyone on the mat. He had
amazing Ki. Please hold a good thought for him, his family, and the many people
he helped with his generous teaching."
My condolensces to his family, friends, and loved ones.
