TV/Movies: Kickstarter for "dojo: the story of an American aikido school"
Posted 1/21/2014 3:33pm [from Stephen Montagna]

Madison, WI – For over thirty years, at Aikido of Madison, teachers and students have joined to create community as they train in martial arts. “dojo: the story of an American aikido school” asks how do you create an atmosphere where people can train for potentially life-and-death situations in a manner that creates a supportive, family-like community? What presumptions of American culture – with its expectations of instant success, with imagery of power and domination – are challenged and broken down for the student who trains in a Japanese martial art? You can read more on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/dojothemovie. Already in production, the filmmaker is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to assist with production and post-production costs; the campaign runs through Feb. 7: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sdmonty/dojo-the-story-of-an-american-aikido-school
