Article: Article on Lia Suzuki Sensei
Posted 2/03/2006 9:08am [from Jun Akiyama]
Here's an article on Lia Suzuki sensei of Aikido Kenkyukai International Santa Barbara. "Santa Barbaran Lia Suzuki has studied the martial art of aikido for 24 years. She trained under a renowned master while living in Japan from 1987 to 1996, excelled, and returned to the United States." She says in the article, "We don’t strive for that perfect punch or perfect kick. Instead we focus on the opposite side of the equation -- when to turn, when to move, the timing of the move in order to dissipate the conflict. Other martial arts claim to be self-defense-oriented, but a defensive move is still followed by an offensive attack.'"
