Here's an article entitled, "A 10-day journey to professional dojo in Japan" about a group of alternative school students in Stockton, California, who are traveling to Japan to practice aikido for ten days. The article states, in part, "Changing students' reactions to conflict is one of the program's main goals, [instructor Dan Matlock] said. "It's not very popular to have video games that depict working things out," Matlock said. "Kids … tend to get sort of myopic in their world view. Aikido shows them there's a world out there." The trip to Japan is an extension of the effort to broaden their perspective, he said."
