Styles and Organizations in Aikido

There are many different styles and organizations in aikido, none of which are "superior" or "inferior." Rather, they are all different approaches to teaching and learning the broad and deep art that is aikido. Here is a quick article that may help you choose a dojo.

With that said, here are pointers toward some organizations and styles.

Cross-style organisational bodies

The following organisations form 'umbrella' organisations who represent all styles of Aikido.

  • BAB - British Aikido Board

Aikikai

The following organizations fall within the Aikikai family of aikido.
