Morihiro Saito sensei was born on March 31st, 1928. Became a student of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba in July, 1946. Served as uchideshi until the founder's death in 1969.
Became the head of the Ibaraki dojo in Iwama in 1969 after the death of the founder. Created a technically systematic method of teaching aikido that has spread throughout the world as "Iwama" aikido. Also formulated a system of weapons training which he attributed having been taught by the founder.
Passed away on May 13th, 2002 at the age of 74. 9th dan.
