Actually, the head of our children's program has decided more formality is needed to make sure the most - um - Challenging kids take the whole process seriously. So this translates into all the instructors and instructor level assistants (basically, instructors who don't have their black belt) wearing kimonos during promotions.

The kimonos look so nice when we start. After two or three falls, though...

I was there for this promotion and this kid ran poor Joe ragged.
