Kamakura A.K.I. Celebrations April 29th brought together senior Aikido Kenkyu Kai representatives and instructors from within Japan’s Kamakura area and also senior members from as far as the U.S., Canada and Australia. These notable supporters all of whom acknowledged the importance of this very special day attended in homage to congratulate Yoshinobu Takeda Shihan and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Higashi Totsuka dojo and his Aikido Kenkyu Kai International Network, which has connected all its members to Aikikai Tokyo. This action I feel reinforces a basic dream of O`Sensei , the expansion of Aikido with the connection and unification of its members, (Mankind) The days activities commenced early, the Higashi Totsuka dojo was immaculately presented, formal blessings took place followed by words of commemoration from individual representatives, words of admiration and gratitude highlighting this milestone in the Aikido life of their teacher and Aikido mentor. Individual representatives each in turn were called up to give Aikido demonstrations to mark this occasion. It was a great honour for me when invited to take part in this significant platform to be able to express my heart and represent Aikido Kenkyukai International Australia and my own A. K I. Fudoshin dojo Australia. Later that day we all trained Aikido at the Ofuna Budokan, followed by a banquet and presentations. Aikido activities continued through the next week. On May 11th Aikido Kenkyukai International continued celebrating with The Hachimungu Shrine Embukai and demonstration day. This event takes place each year to honour its special guest, the Doshu Moriteru UESHIBA….To be continued....... To all those wonderful and inspiring personalities, who offered themselves on that memorable day, it was a pleasure being with you. A big thankyou to Ken Schultz, Chris Guthrie, Max, Jan Rene Le duc and his three students from Canada, my students Berin Mackenzie and Shane Mann, both living in Japan and training with Takeda Shihan. To Yasu Suzuki sensei, and Satoshi Takeda sensei and especially to Yoshinobu Takeda Shihan. Thank you very much.
