Kokyu Tanden Ho

How does my sensei, who is about 70 lbs lighter, throw me so effeciently in kokyu tanden ho? Are there secrets or tricks to this technique? I find it most difficult to throw him when he is really resisting.

Re: Kokyu Tanden Ho

Tricks? Nope. Secrets? Nope. Not unless it is specifically being withheld.... I don't think. Kokyu is fundamental to aikido. And I don't think your sensei is "resisting" as such. Disconnecting his center from his arms and wrists, more likely.

The topic has been done to death here.

Excuse me, but could you kindly tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?

Your sensei knows what he's doing. There's no secrets. He's not withholding any information. It's just a really hard technique and it requires a lot of practice.

Hi Drew,
I'll be in Tallahassee from March 24th - 26th if you feel like dropping in on the seminar... it's hosted by the North Florida Aikikai.
