True Warrior

Budo:

I discovered the true warrior in my family, while discussing my upcoming Nikyu test with my wife:

"I'm so excited; almost twenty years after I failed the test the first time, thousands spent on physical and psychological therapy, hours doing chi kung, stretches, calisthenics, and painkillers, I can finally take and pass that test! I think I'll express 'my aikido' - I'll blend judo and aiki - I was thinking on the 'koshi nage from punch' that I would change what they taught - enter irimi nage style, and when uke gets behind me I'll pop them straight up into the air and throw them just like cutting with a sword - like I did 25 years ago before the injury."

My wife replied, "It may sound backwards, but I think you should take care of your partners; you know, protect them, before you worry about looking good yourself."

"No, that sounds right on. Thanks."

HA!

On a less spiritual note: Amid much griping she accompanies me to the pistol range once a year, and outshoots me. Dammit.

Re: True Warrior

So, it's clear. She is a true warrior. Maybe your life insurance is too high.

It seems to be a risk if you are injured or sued for hurting others, but it is less risk, if you are shot.

You'd better change your insurance policies

Re: True Warrior

Marriage is union on many levels: heartfelt love, physical love, friendship, financial strength, making children (something I am not strong enough for). Reasons for getting along are also provided by reasons of both very high, and some not so high 'virtues'.

15th anniversary tomorrow. Pardon the ruminations.

Hmmmm. Your wife sounds a lot like mine and Tampa isn't that far away. Thankfully, your mention of a fifteenth anniversary rules out the possibility of my wife living a double life. We're expecting our first anniversary and our first kid at around the same time (yes, we started right away ).

Your posts were nice to read. Happy anniversary.
