How to write kanji

hi, can anyone recommend a good site where i can learn how to write kanji including which stroke should go first when writing (up, down and sidewad, etc) as well as other sites to learn calligraphy..

http://www.joyo96.org/ is a good resource for a lot of kanji-related information. Nothing beats having a live instructor, though.

I actually like the entire Japanese language section on about.com. http://japanese.about.com/blqow23.htm is a good place to answer your specific question. There are lots of links from there.

what exactly do you want to do? I know it would be nice to get something for free, but when it comes to the subject of kanji, there isn't much you can do without a book.
