Re: History of the Japanese Bokken
Hmm. My steel-sieve mind may be failing, but I think I've read that, or something very similar, before elsewhere.
Also, note that 'bokken' only one term for the wooden sword (and technically would represent a straight weapon, such as the tsuru-ken, rather than a curved sword, such as a katana. Bokuto is the more proper term, though bokken is in wide use.
Makes me wonder how much the writer knew about the history of the bokken is he didn't point that out.
