Google Video
I have been busy editing videos for a few months - it takes lot of time. Still, I'm not that good at it - just point the camera in the general direction during class and edit out viewable stuff. I have a few on my website but they take up a lot of space and bandwidth. But now there is a new place - Google Video - that allows you to upload tons of stuff.
Upload stuff here: https://upload.video.google.com/
Search for stuff here: http://video.google.com/
Download Google Video Viewer here: http://video.google.com/video_download.html
There does not appear to be any limit to the amount of stuff you can upload. You can even charge people to watch - but mine are set at no fee.
Anyway, I uploaded a few vids about a month ago and they are now viewable - I think. Put my name (Rupert Atkinson) in the search and they should come up. Last time I looked they were - not yet available (nothing else is either) - but my guess is they should be soon. It seems to take a long time from uploading to becoming available. Once it works, it could become a good format.

Re: Google Video
Yours are up and viewable, Rupert. Nice job, and thanks for the links! Say, on the first one, it sounds like there's a ferret vocalizing in the background...or was that just your feet sliding on damp tatami?
Best,
Ron

Re: Google Video
Rupert,
I would be fascinated to watch your videos on Google Video (as I would also the ones of Rev. Furuya on the site), but I find that the downloadable viewer program is a Windows executable, and so is useless on the Macs I use both at work and at home.
Do you (or does anyone else) know if any alternative viewer program works with the Google videos?
Regards,
ALex

Re: Google Video
Hi Ron,
When I look at the site it says not yet available - you have seen my videos on Google before I have! What gives?
PS Yes, the mat can get sqeaky with sweat.

Re: Google Video
Alex,
I have no idea about viewing on a Mac. I was a Mac diehard but here in Korea it is just so much hassle - I just gave up and switched to a PC. Indeed, I cannot view them myself yet - I think it is a Korea thing.

Re: Google Video
Yep, and they look good too. I'm glad that noise is the mats, and not the ferrets you're stepping on

Re: Google Video
I threw up a smaller condensed version of my Aikido vid up there as well. Free video hosting is a good thing.
If you just search for 'aikido' at
http://video.google.com/
it's the fourth one down. The 1st actual video though, the 1st three are tv listings.

Re: Google Video
hmmm ... have to install THEIR video viewer? I suppose that comes with all kinds of spyware too. Not worth the effort if I have to install yet "another" video viewer.

Re: Google Video
Yup - another video viewer. Anyway, I have gone quite mad and have uploaded another 40+ videos. I have done this in the hope my students can review stuff but it is there for all to see.
And it now works in Korea.
It will probably take Google a few days to verify and release the new ones.

Re: Google Video
Actually, the Google video viewer is based off of VLC, the open source media player. Very much spyware free.
Also, if you aren't using VLC to play any and all video files on your computer, you should as it it far and away the best media player right now.

Re: Google Video
OK - Google Video informs me that my vids are now viewable - except that I can't view them in Korea. Could someone take a look and tell me if they work?
And if you don't like mine - so be it - but there do seem to be a few other vids worth taking a look at - if only I could view them!
Cheers,

Re: Google Video
OK - now Google lets me watch my videos in South Korea - but only the first 10 seconds. Is it the same where you are? Or can you see the videos through to the end of the time as indicated below them?
If you have the time to look, pm me ofline about it.
And has anyone else uploaded stuff there?
Cheers ...
