Yellow belt requirments
(srry about spelling)
My yellow belt requirments (for test) were:
The 5 basic hand streches
Shico(knee walking)
Rolls (front and back) from standing
Shomunuchi eacheo irimi
Two step
Partner 2 step
Curious about other testing requirments for yellow belt
Regards,

Re: Yellow belt requirments
Mine were:
katatori ikkyo (irimi, tenkan, mae nage)
katate kosatori kotegeishi ( irimi, tenkan)
katate kosatori kokyunage
demonstration of 3 basic strikes empty handed and with bokken.
And some basic aiki taiso.
All organizations are little different.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
Which Kyu is yellow? Everyone's tests are different. Just like some of the names are different. I have no idea what a "ho" is? hehe.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
I think yellow in most dojos is 6th kyu. My dojo doesn't use colored belts for the adult classes (the ones I'm in) but for the kids classes, since they start a nanakyu, and yellow is the first COLORED belt they get, I'm assuming it's rokkyu

Re: Yellow belt requirments
In my dojo, we don't have colored belts for the adults classes. But our first test is 5th kyu and our test requirements are:
Shomenuchi ikyyo omote and ura
Shomenuchi iriminage omote and ura
Gyakyu Hanmi Katatetori Shihonage omote and ura
Tsuki Kotegaeshi omote and ura
Ushiro Tekubitori Kotegaeshi omote and ura
Morotetori Kokyunage (irimi, tenkan and tenshin openings)
We have a yellow belt and that for our kids class. A yellow belt is 10th kyu, and its requirements are:
Bow
right and left hanmi
forward and backwards shikko
kneeling and standing forward and backwards rolls
ikkyo exercise
irimi, tenkan and tenshin opening movements
irimi, tenkan and tenshin kokyunage throws
And approaching the test they have to demonstrate following instructions and paying attention in class.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
My sensei also teaches Chong Shin Kwan, a TKD/Karate hybrid, at the dojo. I suppose he just uses the colored belts of TKD in the aikido classes out of convenience. White is 8th kyu and yellow is 7th.
Our yellow belt requirements look similar to this...

Re: Yellow belt requirments
5th kyu is representitave of yellow in our org.
It comprises of: Mae ukemi, Ushiro Ukemi, Shikko, Tai-sabaki and Tai-No-Henko.
Then Against Ai hanmi katate tori, tori has to perform ikkyo, nikkyo, sankyo, yonkyo, shihonage, kotegaeshi, iriminage, kaitennage and tenchinage (both irimi and tenkan versions).
Any defences against shomen-uchi also.
The first 3 bokken suburi.
And depending on the instructor they may throw some random stuff in, generally some suwari-waza and handmi han dachi.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
At my dojo you don't need any weapons work until you go for 5th kyu. You'll need 1-5 jo suburi and 1-7 bokken suburi.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
Not sure which one would be yellow belt for us, but if it's the second test that would be fourth kyu. A bunch of hitori waza, kokyu dosa, shomenuchi kokyunage, yokomenuchi shihonage tenkan/irimi and tenkan/tenkan, munetsuki koteoroshi, kata tori ikkyo irimi and tenkan.
Lately it's been made clear to us that when the head instructor says "And every technique on every test below yours, in order, by memory" she is NOT KIDDING. Lots of scrambling to review old criteria....

Wrist stretches is probably what was ment. You know just going through the different wrist teachings on yourself to stretch before class.

I would imagine 'white belt' is the first grading in that dojo?

Thought so, but as we donīt have any grading for white (our first testing is done for yellow, apart from kids and teenagers, who can test for white-yellow) I wasnīt sure.

Re: Yellow belt requirments
It's been quite funny when we had the training session with the TKD group. In our dojo people start with a red belt, which ist the the equivalent to our brown/1st kyu in TKD.
