Aikido represented... well??? Budo Mag.

Has anyone read the Jan/Feb 2005 issue of Budo Magazine? I just got it cause there is an article about Aikido in there. I was, however dissapointed that the theme in the beginning of the article seemed to be about Steven Segal. I don't see why Aikido should be associated with one man who gets in front of a camera and doesn't even execute many aikido techniques. I've seen some. But not many. Anywho. I think it's a good article if you've never heard of aikido before. But it doesn't mention anything about Ki and it only hints at anything about staying centered and balance. They also use a different spelling to aikidoka than I've seen. They spell it aikidoca. Is this just one of those things that no one thinks about or is there actually a correct way to spell that. I got the impression that the author only went in and watched a class or two, talked to the instructors and then had them pose for some pretty pictures. But if you're interested there is also an article about Kenpo Karate with Larry Tatum sensei, Dominique Valera "The King" Karateka/ kickboxing, Hock Hochheim with an article about Pistol Disarming, Fabricio Werdum, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. In case that perks anyones interest. Have fun. I am just bored at work. -Jay

Was there an associated video conveniently for sale on the next page?

That mag is like a home show or a boat show--you pay to see advertising and the whole raison d'etre of the thing is to sell stuff.

On the very next page is the dude and the pistol disarming. The article does, however, mention an instructional video by the Pena brothers and Budo International. But there is about 10 pages with nothing but videos and books and stuff. -Jay
