book concept

Hello Everyone,

I am a writer and many years martial arts practitioner, the last eight with Aikido. Recently, I have taken the first steps on a writing project that I'm very excited about; a compilation work entitled 'Voices of Aikido: Who is shaping Aikido in the present and into the future?'. Most of the writings on Aikido I've encountered over the years seem to be either How-To books or concerning What-O Sensei-Really-Meant. I am pursuing this work because I would like to read it, and I believe it will appeal to many people, on and off the matt.
The work will consist of chapters under headings answered from a questionnaire, with editorial linking. I am appealing globally to practitioners of one year experience to fifty, to the elite among us yes, but mostly to those we rarely hear from but who are having their impact on Aikido nonetheless. As we connect to the art it is only natural that to whatever degree it touches and alters us, we touch and alter it. I would like to hear from those who teach without fanfare night after night, the struggling students, those in positions to make policy who wrestle with choices in the face of internal politics and economics. When the work is completed I will seek publication in the hope that these voices of dedication and sincerity will be heard as even the very next generation, I believe, will see many shifts in the Aikido world.
If you wish to be included in this work please e-mail me at: spinningmonkey@msn.com.
Thank you for your practice and participation, Paula

Sounds interesting.

Have you sent a query letters to possible publishers?

Have you began to develop a complete book proposal?

As always, let me know how I can be of help.

Add me to it if you want. I can do a few pages on why I chose to practice the "heretic" form of Aikido.... *grins evilly*
