I'm new to the forums. I've been studying Aikido at University of California Riverside with Bash Sensei since the beginning of the school year. The first thing I have to say is I love it. I first saw Aikido demonstrated on the discovery channel about how they use the opponents energy against them. I was thrilled by the concept and was even more thrilled when I found it was taught at my University.
At first I was amazed simply at the techniques and seeing people fly across the mat. Now I can proudly say I now aspire for more important goals than simply making people fly, but to become a well rounded person with good core values and the dedication and discipline to train hard. (I also love to be thrown
). I passed my 5th kyu test last quarter, and over the summer I might train in San Diego with Chiba Sensei if I get my internship
After searching the web, I found this forum to be the most stimulating. To me this will be a great place to get different points of view, tips, philosophy, and who knows what. I am a firm believer of the powers of learning both through experience and by book. I hope I can contribute useful information in productive discussions in my journey of Aikido and of life.
Again hey all,
