Update on Barbara Bowen-Kelso

I am pleased to announce that after being off the mat and nearly dying from two brain aneurysms nearly 18 months ago Barb has started training in Aikido again. She has been on the mat for 2 weeks now twice a week. She is not able to take any hard falls but she is able to roll and otherwise perform all of her techniques without restriction. She is still trying to regain some strength and balance in her legs since the major aneurysm affected this portion of her brain. She has been doing Tae kwando for a while with no head kicks to build coordination, legs and stamina before she attempted to get back to training in aikido.

It has been a long and challenging road for Barb but she is pleased to be training again. The martial arts are part of her rehab. She really appreciated all of the help and kind thoughts everyone expressed during her illness. The first aneurysm had to be repaired surgically and the second one was repaired later with a stint.

Thank you all for you help and support in the past.

Thanks Jun.

A great deal of thanks goes to you for suggesting and implementing the online auction for helping with her medical bills. Our appreciation is immesurable.

Please let her know that her example is an inspiration to us, and that there are many folks round the world rooting for her.
