Dojos in Portland OR

Hello all. I am intending to start Aikido in the next few weeks and am wondering if there is anyone out there who is from my area and who could give me some information about the local dojos. I know that there is at least one individual who was pleased with Multnomah Aikikai, and I would love to hear from him. What about Two Rivers? Any Portlanders out there?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

the folks at Two Rivers are wonderful!!!! I don't train at their dojo (I live in Michigan), but train with Spiros Sensei and Lynn (his wife) every summer camp, and can tell you that their spirit is wonderful, as is their aikido. Highly recommend a visit to that dojo!

Thank you, Rachel.

I now have one endorsement for Multnomah, and one for Two Rivers. I think I'll pay one of them a visit tomorrow. Thanks, so much!

Best wishes Mark, please say hello to Lynn and Spiros Sensei for me (you can tell them that they got a high rating from someone across country).

I don't know the new teacher at Multnomah (actually, the old teacher who is again there), but know Frank Apodaca Sensei who was there until a few years ago, and he's really terrific too.

Hi Mark,

I used to practice at Two Rivers in 2001, when I lived in Portland. It's a great dojo, very friendly, well run, clean, good practice, etc. If I really get going about all the great things about Two Rivers, I'll wind up wishing I was back there... Portland has a lot of good dojos, for its size, and while Two Rivers was my favorite by a long shot (partly because of style, but also location, friendliness, facilities, etc.), you might also want to look at Portland Aikikai, in NW. I have also heard very good things about Multnomah Aikikai.

Good luck,
--Amelia
