Has anybody here ever tried to use Aikido in "the STREET" (da da DAHHHH) and failed miserably to defend themself or apply the desired technique?

All the time

A few of my friends practice the martial arts also, Karate, JKD, Kali, Muay Thai, Boxing and one is a control and restaraint instructor and when we play together usual in the form of pinning and wrestling nothing works other than improvisation because we don't want to hurt each other we don't use atemi and when one has a basic idea of each others art we simply block everything resulting in the only thing left to do is to lift them up and throw them or choke. However we all understand that we are not using our arts or belief that this is anything other than fun. Martial arts don't work unless things are serious.
