Cool Greetings

Hello everyone.
I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just enthusiastically enrolled in my first Aikido program. After doing a lot of first-hand research, I came to the conclusion that Aikido was the martial art that most reflected my values, priorities and needs. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the discipline and to learning as much as possible. I look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone and vice-versa. Take care everyone and we'll be in touch.

Re: Greetings

Welcome Claudio,

enjoy your training.

Do you train with Sandokai in Toronto or with another club?

Well, enjoy and train.

Hello Claudio,

Are you the nice fellow I met off the mat at Kanai Sensei's seminar, who went to the seminar after only one week of training?

First of all, Claudio, Welcome!!!!

I believe you won't regret your decission.

I made myself that kind of research about Aikido before signing up on a Dojo. But the difference is that I knew before that Aikido was THE MA (for me)...the rest of the research was to find a good dojo, to know more about the art and to study a bit all the etiquette and way of learning/teaching.

My question goes to Rachel.

Do you know HOW SOON it is to attend a Seminar? I mean...what's the minimum ammount of practice time before you consider it?

Pablo,

If you read my comment again, it says nothing about it being too soon to go to a seminar, just that he went to a seminar after only one week of training. This was a question for Claudio to see if he was the fellow who I had been talking with, thats all.

I know it says nothing directly and that you were just asking if he was a guy you knew at a seminar.

But the thing that drew my attention was the "ONLY" word.

After ONLY one week of training.

That's why I made that question.

To my understanding, is as you were saying that one week of training is not enough maybe.

So I wanted to know your opinion (since I'm a comlete and absolute newbbie to Aikido)

Tnx!

Hi Claudio,

Welcome to the AikiWeb Forums and thanks for your introduction.

As far as "how soon is too soon to go to a seminar," I personally don't think it's ever "too soon." Just go.

Cool

Thanks to everyone of you who reply. I appreciate your greetings.

Hello Erik, I train with Aikikai in Toronto. Do you train with Sandokai in the Netherlands?

Hello Rachel, I don't believe I am the guy that you met at the seminar. Kanai Sensei was just in Toronto for a seminar last weekend but I didn't attend the seminar. Do you train with him?

Hello Pablo, I also did some research on the dojos in Toronto because there are a few Aikido dojos here that teach a different style of Aikido, i.e. Sandokai, Tendokai, Yoshinkai, Chugyo, etc. However, I felt that Aikikai was the dojo for me. The instructor is amazing, the students were welcoming, the location was convenient and there are plenty of classes that I can attend.

Hello Akiy, Thanks for the welcome.

I just attended my first class today and it was great. However, I have a question for all of you. I felt very rusty and had a bit of difficulty duplicating the moves. I didn't feel bad for myself but for my partners because I felt that I was perhaps keeping them back. I mentioned this to some of them

but they said they all went through that and that I should just continue coming to class without getting discouraged. Did you guys go through the same thing?

Well, sandokai is the name of a club in Toronto of which I personaly know a couple of very nice people. It is the club in Toronto that also hosts seminars with Herny Kono sensei, a pupil of O Sensei, who also gives seminars at our club Shi Zen Ryu in the Netherlands.
