AikiWeb Training/Teaching Journals

Hi everyone,

Here's another "test" forum here on AikiWeb: the Training/Teaching Journals Forum.

Basically, I wanted to give some space here to people who are interested in keeping their very own Internet aikido journal. Although each thread will be publically readable, only the owner of the thread will be able to post directly into that particular thread.

If you are interested in having your very own online journal here, please let me know by e-mail with your username at akiy@aikiweb.com and I'll set one up for you. You'll need to have an AikiWeb Forums account first, of course. (Note: Due to technical limitations, you won't be able to start up a training journal or a thread in this forum yourself!)

Any thoughts/questions?

Hi folks,

I just "expanded" on the idea of the training journal to encompass those who teach classes so that they can share with us what sort of experiences they've had in their teaching duties. The forum has now been renamed to the Training/Teaching Journals forum...

Hi Jun,

I just thought that the journal owner might be interested in getting feedback on his/her posts, so it might be useful to have a feature that allows forking a subthread from a particular post in the journal (like "discuss this post" would take you to the appropriate thread where anyone can post). Don't know if vBulletin supports this though, or whether this makes sense at all

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for responding. That's an interesting thought. One way to provide feedback on a person's journal would be to send private e-mail and/or private messaging if that person has either of them turned on.

Another way would be to copy the "Post #" link (in the top right of each post) and use that as a reference in a new thread elsewhere.

Providing a "discuss this post" functionality (like with the front-page AikiWeb poll and news items) would require some code hacking which I'd rather not do at this point...

Oh, one other thing. If any of you would like a journal, feel free to let me know in this thread if that's easier for you.

Any other thoughts?

Hmm... Since there haven't been any takers, the "Training/Teaching Journal" forum has been taken down.

So it goes.
