It is clear they have no idea on how to attack with a banana (stem first of all things).
there is a purpose to point the stem first. it prevents the other person from peeling the banana too quickly and eat it. but your point of them not versed in bananado is correct. nobody who versed in bananado would attack from the front. the best spot is from the side where you stick the said banana into the other person ear and wiggle it a bit. that would get everyone attention and cooperation quickly. the other best spot is to stick the banana down the front of the other person pants and said "are you glad to see me or is that a banana in your pants?!!!"

The best bananadori technique I have seen. Guy is surounded by 10 bad banana dudes. disarms first guy, proceeds to squeeze the banana peel and all onto the floor, THEN as he is attacked, tenkans completely off the line one by one, allowing their momentum to cause them to slip on the banana and peel. Craziest thing I ever saw...
