with out the heart there can be no understanding between body and mind and if u have never linked ur self to true emptiness you will never comprehend the full dimension of aikido.

Wouldn`t call that a Handgun!
How about this
Dirty Harry's .44 Magnum is no longer the most powerful handgun in the world.
The new champion is the Five-seveN (so called because it fires a .57mm round), made by the Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal.
The pistol is designed for anti-terrorist and hostage rescue operations; its manufacturer considers it to be too powerful for normal police use. It has roughly 20 times the range and penetrating power of today's military pistols, being capable of punching through 48 layers of laminated Kevlar armour at 200 metres.
It is currently being evaluated by Britain's SAS, which now uses the Browning 9mm. The Browning fires 8-gram bullets at a muzzle velocity of 350 metres/second. a Five-seveN fires 2 gram bullets at 650 metres/second.
The .57mm round is actually a submachine gun round, designed to fire with FN Herstal's P90 submachine gun. It is made mostly of plastic, with a full metal jacket. It punches through hard targets, but tumbles and expends most of its energy when hitting a soft target; thus, if you shoot someone, the round will not come out the other end and also hurt a person standing behind the target. The full metal jacket prevents it from having the "grotesque" effect of a dum-dum round.
The design of both the handgun and the bullet causes it to have only 40% of the recoil of a .44 Magnum, even though the Five-seveN is more powerful. [The Sunday Times of London, July 7, 1996]

That is just a .22 pistol with attitude.

.57?
dude this is a small fast bullet. That is how it can punch through helmets and such. Its narrow profile gives it a high sectional density. (ie ice pick and spoon may have same mass/velocity- but which would you worry about?)
What I would call a "powerful" hand gun is the Thompson-Center Encore. It is a single shot pistol for hunting and long range target shooting. The barrel may be swapped in minutes to change calibers.
Factory chamberings include .30-06, .45-70 and 7mm-08 (non-factory barrels can be had for other potentially more "powerful" rounds and "less powerful" chamberings like .44, .308 and 5.56mm abound)
Any of these rounds fires a heavier and faster bullet than the five-seven. (recoil is impressive)
Disclaimer - I do advocate guns and use them.

Forgot to note that round in question is 5.7mm(small, about .22 caliber), not .57 Caliber (huge- like as in flare gun)
