YouTube: Sugano Seiichi 菅野誠 (Aikido in Australia) 60's

Here's a video clip of the late Seiichi Sugano (8th dan, New York Aikikai) demonstrating in Australia in the 1960's according to the video title.

Does anyone here have any more information regarding when/where this video was taken?

Re: YouTube: Sugano Seiichi 菅野誠 (Aikido in Australia) 60's

Long before embarking on his world journey in Aikido, beginning in Australia, Sugano Shihan was already regarded as a special talent by his fellow uchi-deshi at the Aikikai's Hombu Dojo.

I recall a conversation with both Mitsunari Kanai and Yoshimitsu Yamada, that as likeable as Sugano was, there existed a resentment of sorts. They admittedly resented that his being tall and so physically strong, he made everything he did look easy. So, as they toiled endlessly in training and other chores, it seemed that nothing fazed young Sugano, as he cheerfully went along his business and his growth in Aiki.

My one encounter with Sugano Shihan did nothing to dispel that impression, as he seemed to calmly and effortlessly demonstrate movements that simply baffled me with their seeming simplicity and efficiency.

May he rest in the Peace he so richly deserves.

in oneness,
