Is this Aikido?

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1e9_1354027157

I saw this video on reddit and I was wondering what you guys thought. I'm not very advanced, but I totally saw some aikido, maybe not techniques but definitely some applied principles. Not sure what happened on the last throw, but I like how friendly "nage" is at the end; patting uke on the back and telling him to walk away.

Your thoughts?

Re: Is this Aikido?

Looks like brawling to me. Okay, he did a bit of a tenkan and a throw thing there, but that doesn't necessarily mean he has done aikido.

Re: Is this Aikido?

Looks like the guy in the right did pretty well, hard to call it aikido or not, but he didn't push his advantages, controlled the ma-ai and timing pretty well, and he let the other guy out of the fight quickly. AIkido, maybe, win, yah.

Re: Is this Aikido?

He grabbed an off-balanced, lunging kid with no skills by the shirt and slung him to the ground. Is that all it takes to be considered aikido these days?

Re: Is this Aikido?

Well, because of the gripping used in the throws, if you want to assign a formal label, maybe you could go with sumi-otoshi, as done in judo.

Re: Is this Aikido?

Nope. Not aikido. Just a couple of kids beating on one another and a couple of things that coincidentally vaguely resemble elements found in aikido technique, or for that matter ju Jitsu or any number of other arts.

Was it done with loving intent based on the loving protection of all things?
