Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Re-pinging this as a reminder to folks.
Looking back over the thread I see, in addition to Bruce and the other ADV folks, the "yes!" camp includes:
me, Jonathan Wong, Chris Hein (+friends/students?), Michael Hackett (+friends?), William Hazen = at least 5 people
and the "maybe" group includes:
David Valadez, Lorien Low, Tarik Ghbeish = 3

Things open with 10 a.m. class at ADV on Saturday, Sept. 3, and we will plan on going out to dinner Saturday evening for folks not hitting the road right away.
If you are in California and free Labor Day weekend, come on and join us!!!!!

I am sorry folks but I am off the list. I forgot I am scheduled to be the main speaker at a major 12 step convention held the very same weekend. They booked me 6 months ago and I completely forgot about it until this weekend when they called to confirm hotel arrangements. I sincerely apologize and I hope you'll invite me in any future get together.

Oh, man, I know you have to honor that committment, but I'm really sorry to miss this chance to meet you. Well of course, consider yourself invited anywhere and any time we are getting together!

Got my hotel reservation. Two beds in the room so if anybody needs last minute place to crash send me a PM or talk to me that Saturday.

Making sure we are still on for Saturday. Everything is a go correct? How many are planning on being there?

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

I suspect that I won't make it. My plans to be in the area changed into the fellow from up there coming to my dojo to teach Sat. morning. I may be able to travel up in the afternoon, but family will probably trump that.

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Well at least from our ADV side, we are planning to hold the meet-up. Not clue beyond Janet who will attend. Even from the dojo we may have very few folks as many have told me they will be out of town that weekend. But a few means more hands on time so not necessarily a bad thing

thanks

I'm still planning on being there. My schedule is getting muddied by a trial in Sacramento, but I expect to be free for Saturday.

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

I am definitely coming, as is Jonathan Wong from SF.

I will not be staying overnight Sat night - cancelled hotel - as I'll be staying for free at SFO meeting up w/ an aikido-l era friend who, sadly, arrives after dinner Sat. so can't join us.

I'm sorry about the several folks who can't make it but very much looking forward to meeting those who can, and perhaps we can aim for another one in the spring, moving it a bit southward to accomodate folks.

Thanks Sensei! You are certainly on my list of upcoming visits since I have five different cases in your area over the next few months particularly. I look forward to finally meeting you and appreciate the invitation.

And we need to make sure our next one is scheduled when you are available since you can't make Labor Day!

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Janet, thanks for your concern - didn't mean to sound so dramatic. It is an issue with clients and a very long weekend working. All is well with us. Have fun!

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Just note. ADV has kids class on Sat from 9 to 10 AM. Then from 10-12 we will do the normal class with Sensei Rick teaching. Assume then lunch and we can decide exactly how we do the rest of the day. I am hoping there is some beer drinking involved at the very end of the day

For those attending, see you all tomorrow
Thanks, Bruce

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Well, there is a Giants game at 6 pm, so I am going to want to hang out and relax/eat near the dojo until at least 6:30 to make sure bridge traffic clears up (I'll be heading to SFO to meet a friend)

I think we had a pretty good time. Talked a lot about "internal" and found some common ground. It was great to meet all of you.

Oh, looking for insider information, eh?

It was indeed a pleasure to meet the folks behind the postings and get to play on the mat. MANY THANKS to Rick Rowell and ADV for permitting yet another one of our impromptu playtimes. Rick even took his Sat a.m. class and explicitly aimed it towards what we planned on playing with more informally in the afternoon.

We shall have to do another....
