Re: budobabes
LOL!!!! I represent that statement ... the first aikido-l seminar, San Antonio Taxas 1998....
The first one is from left to right, Maria Clausen, Wendy "Sultan of Slash" Gunther , me, Cady Goldfield, Emily Gordon. On the second one, add Maria Escobar and Jill Green.
After days of wearing sweaty off white cotton we decided to put the "babe" into budobabe for the evening awards ceremony!

Re: budobabes
Oh...my...gawd! Janet, I knew this would come back to haunt us, ages after the fact! I think Tim Gion posted those immediately after the seminar (this was before the times of YouTube and instant uploads, thank goodness... Lord knows what foolery would have gone viral!).
Good times.

Re: budobabes
My Gawd Janet! Whatever were you doing to that poor duck? No wonder his voice sounds just like Gilbert Gottfried.

Re: budobabes
I believe Cady was holding it and will have to either supply an answer or maintain a discreet silence.
IIRC (it was many years ago...) it may have had something to do with the once infamous Ivan. Or not.

Re: budobabes
I just looked at the picture again. Now I see the duck has Cady in his control. Bad duck! Bad!

Re: budobabes
"Discreet" is not my middle name, evidently.
For the record, that was a goose, not a duck. A Beanie Baby (TM) goose. In a keiko-gi with a little black obi. In fact, it has sat next to my computer monitor since that fateful weekend in 1998, and I am looking at it right at this moment, trying to remember what the heck it was doing sitting on Janet's... er... clavicles that giddy evening 13 years ago.
Janet had awarded it to me, moments earlier, as part of the festivities, and I guess when we went to do our little chorus-line photo op, there was no nearby table to put the Budo Goose down for a moment, and so it kind of found a temporary resting place.

Aha! From the awards ceremony: "he "My Goose Is Cooked--NOT, Watermelon of Death" Lifetime Achievement Award for high kickin', high spirits, and hi, there, Cady, this one's for you..."
I believe it was in honor of your front yard guard geese!
At least you got something to take home... (sniffle, pout)... nobody actually brought me (or shpritzed me with)
"The "Groucho Marx Seltzer Bottle Award For Excrutiating Punning" goes to that indomitable Dominatrix of Drollery, Mistress of Mischief, Vixen of Verbiage, Janet "What's the punchline?" Rosen."

Re: budobabes
Excuse me?! You absolutely DID get something to take home with you! Two books of excruciatingly painful jokes (including a plethora of "knock-knock" jokes and silly limericks) and puns. How quickly (after 13 years) they forget!
