I'd bet its a very ancient technique which can be found in a lot of wrestling methods all around the world

What!? Surely some wandering ronin made it to Greece! I guess next you'll tell me history repeats itself and we're pretty much doing the same things we've been doing for the last few thousand years! Blasphemy! But we're sooooo advanced...and enlightened! I mean, we even had The Enlightenment period to prove this, after all...and...and...
...ok, this isn't as funny as I thought it'd be, even by my standards. C'est la vie.
I better go get my morning coffee...
Cheers.

We owe much to the ancient Greeks - democracy, philosophy, medicine, mathematics, science, drama, culture, food and martial arts.

Re: help bout sankyu! :(

Get the terms correct.
Sankyu is a rank (3rd Kyu) http://www.aikiweb.com/language/ranks_k.html
Sankyo or Sankajo is the technique: http://www.aikiweb.com/techniques/throws.html

That's good, while you're in Manila you might want to meet my kohai in Cubao. Good luck in your training.
