Morning Sickness Pregnancy

SOS! Mayday! Mayday!

In dire need of remedies for morning (all day/night) sickness for my wife. We have tried the usual things but nothing works. My wife is getting very depressed with it all and we have come to our wits end.

Any/all advice much appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Allan

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

I know of only one sure remedy: wait for 12 months.

All other things I have heard of may work but might make it worse, depending on the women.

Allan:

Citrus fruits seemed to have helped my wife. Morning sickness typically fades after the first trimester of the pregnancy.

More fun is to come..... Just remember that whatever your wife says about you during labor is NOT TRUE!

Good Luck!

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

The only thing that helped for my wife was keeping a few crackers and a bottle of water by the bed at night. The moment she'd wake up she'd have a few swigs of water. Then a few minutes later eat a few crackers. She'd rest for a while longer then finally start the process of getting up.

The other advice was keeping hydrated (small sips of water all day long) and eating extremely lightly but constantly. So a cracker here, a couple almonds there, a slice of apple later, you get the idea. I think the notion was to keep blood sugar very stable.

She got over it rather quickly. Once out of the first trimester she was basically done with it for the most part.

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

My wife lived off Jello and waffles the whole first trimester, eating small bites throughout the day. Anything else and she felt instantly ill. She had to supplement her nutrition with protein shakes, but that worked for her pretty well.
Good luck and congratulations!!!

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

Give her something like a few crackers before getting up in the morning.
She should eat few more times a day,
Avoid beeing with empty stomac, but also eating too much.
A soft diet rich in proteins, few fat.
And drink often water or juices.
Normally it will disappear after the third month.

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

Oh, good lord, scents were important with my wife. She loves seafood. She was about 4 months along and asked me to go out and get some dinner. One of her favorite things was lobster and other shellfish. Okay, so I go out and get her this really great (and very expensive) grilled lobster burrito -- something she had loved in the past. As I opened the bag she got one whiff and ran to the bathroom. Almost didn't make it to the toilet.

Oops.

Couldn't get it out of the house fast enough.

But it was a great burrito. I certainly enjoyed it sitting on the curb at the street outside our place downwind.

Re: Morning Sickness Pregnancy

This is baby number 2 but we had forgotten what the sickness was like the first time round. And it is back with a vengeance! The first time round i was called every name under the sun...most of which was quite accurate really!

Yesterday my read about smelling lemons, so my wife has been giving it a go today...thus far she seems ok. Fingers crossed i won't have to hid in the cupboard when she gets home tonight!
