Data on and Demographics of Aikido and Aikidoka

Can anyone help me find data on Aikido participation (i.e. numbers of participants and trends of participation over the last 10-20 years) and/or information about appearance of Aikido in mainstream or popular culture? Can you recommend journals, articles or recent (meaning within the last 5-10 years) studies about Aikido or the number of people who practice it?

Thanks!

Re: Data on and Demographics of Aikido and Aikidoka

The BAB (british Aikido Board) the gouverning body for Aikido in the UK, states on there website it has under its umbrella, 44 member organisations, covering 10, 000 members (students), with 1989 holding current BAB coaching qualifications.
There are not many Aikido organisations that are not under the BAB in the UK, as it is the opnly recognised gouverning body.

Hope this has contributed, yours in Budo.
