Kagami Biraki Promotions

Aikikai Hombu Dojo will have its Kagami Biraki on January 10 and at the same time it will announce promotions to 5th Dan up to 9th Dan.

Congratulations to all American aikidoists who have duly received recognition, and Dan promotions from Aikikai Foundation.

Since I am from Hawaii, I would like to extend a special aloha, and recognition of the achievements of Shihans Randy Scoville, Gayne Sogi and Alan Nagahisa, who received their 7th dans at the latest Kagami Biraki ceremonies. (Thank you Christopher Li Sensei)

I am confident that all who follow the teachings of Ueshiba Morihei, as well as of the proven mentors of their choice, will maintain the highest standards of conduct and respect for the Founder's gift to the world.

A belated congratulations to my teacher, Lia Suzuki Sensei on promotion to 6th dan (Aikikai). Lia Sensei's teacher is Takeda Yoshinobu Shihan (8th dan). She began her study of aikido with William Gleason Sensei. Again, congratulations! We'll have a celebration when she comes to Pennsylvania in April.
