It seems that the e-mail notice is sent immediately upon someone posting in a thread that I've subscribed to, but because that poster has 15 minutes remaining to edit or delete the post, what I find upon entering the thread is sometimes different from what I've already read. Sometimes it's amusing, when I see that the poster has removed an embarrassing comment (as I have done).
