Last night I saw this movie,
Man On Wire, which tells the story of Philippe Petit's high wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. The movie is very well done - edited for suspense, sometimes very funny, great combination of archival footage, recreations, and current interviews. Two things stood out for me:
1. the long range dream/focus: when he was a 17 yr old French kid he happened upon a newspaper article about the planned WTC and immediately it was his dream to do this
2. watching him on the wire, whether on a 10 foot high practice wire or hundreds of feet up, is a study in simultaneous focus and ecstasy that should interest any m.a. esp I think those who do the koryu weapons arts.
If you
have a chance to see it, check it out.
