Nishio's Dojo in Jakarta?
Hi All,
I was wondering if someone can provide me with information regarding Nishio Aikido. I've done alot of reading bout the various styles of aikido but good solid Nishio information has eluded me so far. In my country, for instance, there arent that many Nishio dojos to begin with
I can't found Nishio Dojos ini Jakarta, if anyone here can provide bout Nishio Dojos information in Jakarta information I'd be most grateful.
Many thanks
Himawan

Re: Nishio's Dojo in Jakarta?
Hi Himawan,
I am a long time Nishio Student here in the US. I don't know of any Nishio affiliated Dojos in Indonesia but here is a link to our current Shihan's home page in Japan. http://www.yufukan.com/index_e.html It's the best source of information for Nishio Aikido. I am sure there are a few Nishio Yudansha in Indonesia. Hopefull when you email them they will be able to help.
Take Care and feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.

William, the site that you linked to does only say that Yoshida Shihan was appointed as representative for USA., France and Ukraine. What about the rest of the world?

Hi Himawan, Salam Kenal
There are so many aikido dojo in Indonesia, you can try using "dojo search" in this Aiki Web features.
For your inquiry, a Nishio Aikido (Aiki Toho Iai) style is available in Dojo Sepolwan (Police Woman school dojo) in Lebak Bulus Jakarta, you can reach Sensei Rista on : 021.98965254 or
Sensei Rista cellphone : 08179828095
I am practicing Aikikai though in Jakarta, but I know Rista Sensei is a good teacher, Nishio aikido also available, in Semarang and Yogyakarta
Selamat berlatih, and Good Luck

Good question Peter and I really don't know. I think that Sensei Stenudd might know who is responsible (if anyone is) for Northern Europe SE Asia and the like. When Nishio Shihan died most of his senior students decided to "take a break" so to speak out of respect and mourning for his passing. Some of them also had vastly different feelings about what to do next. In the USA's case Shoji Nishio was very clear before he passed that he wanted Koji Yoshida Sensei to represent his Art and Legacy.

Re: Nishio's Dojo in Jakarta?
A little web search revealed that the swedish Nishio-students seems to have split between those who follow Shishya sensei (who according to his students were appointed representative for Sweden, Czech rep, etc by Nishio), those that follow Takemori sensei and the rest that are more "mainstream" and have broader variety of influences.
