Books

Hi All!
I'm going to buy some books which are availible in German language, and there are really not so many. I just ordered "Abundant Peace" from John Stevens (fortunately they are doing a reprint in January) but unfortunately I can't get "Invincible Warrior". Now my question: both books seem to be biographies of Morihei Ueshiba. Can somebody please explain me the difference between these two books? Is it useful to order the English version of "Invincible Warrior" additionally?

'Invincible Warrior' is a revised and updated version of 'Abundant Peace' (which is one possible English translation of 'Morihei'). I have not checked where the revisions occur, but I stress that both books are popular biographies: they are not what I would consider aikido history. They are extremely entertaining and valuable, nonetheless.

But for real history, you need to look at specialist publications like Aiki News (Japanese), Aikido Journal (English -- online) and the Journal of Asian Martial Arts.

Best regards,
