Re: GakuHomma

Hi folks,

I've seen some references [1] [2] that Homma sensei was born in 1950, but I haven't seen any information on when he started training in aikido.

Does anyone know when he started training so I can add it to his AikiWiki entry?

Thanks,

-- Jun

Re: GakuHomma

http://www.nippon-kan.org/aikido-nip...is_aikido.html

"I first came to the United States from Japan in 1976 and have spent nearly 26 years teaching the Japanese martial art of Aikido to more than 10,500 students in Denver. "

As this innumerate does the math,

1976 +
26
-------
2002 -
40
------
1962

If that doesn't work, there's info@nippon-kan.org, (303) 595-8256

Re: GakuHomma

Oops, irrelevant. Misread the question... Edited.

All I really know is that Homma would have been 18 or 19 when Ueshiba passed away. I don't know when he started. There is a photo of him with a caption saying he was 16 at the time the photo was taken. So at least 1967.

And Don, not questioning your math but in that same quote he said "almost 40 years". So maybe a little later than 1962?

Re: GakuHomma

And fwiw, I can't for the life of me remember when I started... So I'm usually surprised when people can remember even remotely something like that once many decades have past.
