Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
That's my favorite clip! Do you know where I could find a good amount of info on Tissier Shihan? Such as interviews etc
Not much discussion on him here on aikiweb.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
Good demo. Don't forget Tissier studied judo from a fairly early age which helped develop strong posture and movement. He certainly does his teachers proud.

Wow, that is good! Someone should post a link to that video on every thread that says aikido isnt real or isnt effective. Those are pretty fast committed attacks. Awesome.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
Nice Demo. I always like to see Tissier sensei perform Aikido. He is definitelly one of my favorites. However when you look at the demo you still see the uke stop their attack and wait for the receipt of the technique in some instances. Sorry if I'm nitpicking....

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
Yes it is a well choreographed demo and cleanly preformed. There appears to be a few spontaneous movements but it is his overall demo and gives a good cross-section of his talents and Aikido techniques

Nice powerful moves with some interesting moves as well. Tessier's Aikido befits his rank. He does not take things down as much as he does in a recent video I saw.

A very nice demo with good crisp technique. I enjoyed it a lot. However demo's never prove effectiveness. I loved the video though, it was very nice. I especially liked the part with the knife.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
He is impressive, isn't he? And a delightful individual in person. He taught at the 2005 Aiki Expo in L.A. I know at that time, Stan Pranin taped a detailed sit-down interview with him, but I don't think it is in production yet. There is quite a bit of background to be searched in articles on the Aikido Journal website.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
Just got back from the seminar, hosted by the Brighton Aikikai. Large dose of inactivity planned for today!
For my part, I would say a great day was had by all, even the gentleman that took his 4th dan in the interval with around 200 aikidoka watching... no pressure then!
If you missed the chance to see Tissier at Brighton, there is another chance to see him in Dublin, as already mentioned here.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
Indeed - my first 'in the flesh' view of Tissier Shihan.
An interesting, thought provoking and physically hard work day! Very much enjoyed the course. Some of Tissier Shihan's movement reminded me of Endo Shihan. Intriguing!
Looking forward to practising some more in my home dojo now.
The only down side was that someone took my Yudansha book (I hope by mistake) at the end of the day. If you were in Worthing please check you don't have it - thanks!

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
On a related note, Tissier Sensei has written a series of books which I'm told are really good, but they are only in French. When I bugged him about English editions, he told me he had been thinking about it. Perhaps if some more of us Anglos inquire of him as you see him on the seminar trail, the idea might gain some impetus. FWIW

They were both students of Yamaguchi Seigo at one time so maybe not so surprising.
Tissier sensei is hosting a seminar with Endo sensei in Paris in September.

Re: Spectacular Aikido Demonstration by Tissier
I just wanted to say thanks to the Brighton Aikikai crew for a perfect seminar. Although Christian Tissier was injured, it did not seem to affect his virtuosity and he was really giving everything for the occasion. Also it was nice to see people from so many organisations practicing together.
I also would like take the occasion to point out that we will receive him in Ireland (Dublin) on the 9th and 10th of June, infos here: http://www.christiantissier.com/stag...2007-06-09.pdf and on this thread http://www.aikiweb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11636
Everybody welcome
All the best
