Phylisophical differences between aikido and kali

i was wondering what people who have trained in both of these arts thinks about the phylosophy of these two arts and there differences?

i train in both and have always loved the phylosophy of aikido, being harmonious, loving, and understanding. i love the whole defensive aspect of it. however i also greatly enjoy stick fighting, and i realize that there are some movement similarities in the two arts, but kali being primarily a destroy the weapons coming at you approach, be it fist, feet, or sticks, and having a very offensive approach to its defense, i wonder if the two can coexist.

i apologize for my grammer, and welcome any and all feedback, thanks

IMHO, philosophically, its a ying and yang thing. The opposites balance each other.

Re: Phylisophical differences between aikido and kali

I agree that they are quite opposite philosophically.

The Aikido philosophy is non-violent, defensive only, etc.

Kali is very aggressive and destructive. When you add to it the idea of switching the stick for a machete, you get outright bloody and violent. I can't imagine a person surviving such a violent attack with a machete

As arts, they can co-exist and blend well together. Philosophically they can not be reconciled.
