"Somali Star Rising"

Posted 2006-11-09 09:30:41 by Jun Akiyama
News URL: http://artvoice.com/issues/v5n41/somali_star_rising

Here's an article entitled "Somali Star Rising" that highlights Kevin Cunningham in Buffalo, New York, who has been teaching aikido to Somali and Sudanese refugee children in that city for two and a half years. "It's a very appropriate art for anyone, but particularly for young people who are at-risk, who live around things that are difficult sometimes to blend with," he says.

Re: "Somali Star Rising"

Very cool.

Helped start fiorst Ethiopian dojo, including work with AIDS orphans - I will pass this on as will mean a lot to my freinds there.
Thanks Jun,
Mark
