Rush Limbaugh
It has been reported over here in Blighty that this gentleman (appologises for the spelling) has stated that Michael J Fox has exaggerated the symptoms of his illness.
If this is true could somebody please inform me of the following
When did Dr Limbaugh actually qualify as an MD?
How many years experience does he have in treating degenerative diseases/conditions?
How long has he been treating Michael J Fox for?
And perhaps most important of all?
If he is through serval year of experience, qualified to make assessement and is treating Michael J Fox - isn't he breaching patient confidentiality?

Re: Rush Limbaugh
Limbaugh is a joke.
I wish the government had treated him the same way he suggested others with his problem be treated. Of course, as one of the spokesmen for the right, and one of the entitled, he got preferential treatment.
Yuk.

Rush (Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot - funny book), said that maybe either Fox (i) had stopped taking his meds (so as to illustrate the really bad effects), or (ii) was exaggerating the symptoms (acting). Fox himself admitted that he did (i) above before he testified before congress nnot too long ago, so the suggestion that maybe he did it for a TV commercial to speak out in favor of more funding is not too far out there. What better way to increase sympathy? Isn't that why Fox did it before he testified before Congress?

This is what he said...Limbaugh is an idiot.

Yes, that is what he said. How is that different from what I said he said? "...said that maybe either Fox (i) had stopped taking his meds (so as to illustrate the really bad effects), or (ii) was exaggerating the symptoms (acting)"

Limbaugh's shock at Fox's appearance is a measure of the disease's devastation, advocates say. Contrary to the charge that Fox might not take his medicine to enhance his symptoms, the medicine produces some of the uncontrolled body movements.

Re: Rush Limbaugh
For all the people out there that love Rush, buyer beware!! He doesn't always give you the straight facts. He parses!
A couple years ago, I saw Daschle (D) give a speech live on TV. The next day, Rush blasted him about how wrong Daschle was on the subject and gave the reasons why. Well a bunch of people called in agreeing with Rush and it was obvious that they did not hear the statement by Daschle for if they had, they would have known that the Rush didn't give the full entire quote. Even the spirit of the quote was not fully convaied by the statements and tone that Rush gave. I had a fully convince my colleague that listened to Rush everyday that what Rush said was wrong. We must have talked it over for about 45 minutes. Finally my colleague said that if Rush said did not paint the full picture of Daschle's statement then Rush was wrong to do so.
I wish I could remember what the statement was but I can't.

In my experience, everybody does. I try to listen to both sides of every story, but I still don't get anywhere near having a whole picture. A lot of pieces are missing.
Every news media is only a form of entertainment. That's all.
I listen to Rush, but I know that it's a show. He has stuff he wants to sell me, just like everybody else does. When he does something stupid, or you're just sick of hearing his voice, shut his stuff off and listen to some CDs. I did.

I can't agree with that, James. A lot of reporters risk and some sacrifice their lives to find out and report what is really true. Things like, "Did Iraq really have WMDs before the start of the war?" and such as that. These questions are important and the truth really matters.
What Rush does is purposely obscure the truth and twist it to provide an intentionally false view of the world for financial and political gain. Sure, there are gray areas in life, but Rush will take a clear fact and lie about it. In other words, he's more than a mere entertainer. Rush is a liar. He's worse than a mere blathering fool. He's a malicious propagandist. It's one thing just to turn him off. But it's another to let him pass as an honest man or even a mere entertainer.

Yeah but Rush is not a reporter, nor is his show considered a news show by most of us. At least no more the news than the Art Bell show ever was. It gets some people off to hear people say stupid stuff. So what. I think he is an ignoramus. He would probably think I am one, and if he knew me would say so on his radio show IF he thought it would get him more advertising money or a piece in the paper, cause that is why he runs a talk show, to make dolla billz yall.

Yes, most of us realize that Rush is a self-propelled hot-air balloon, but unfortunately very, very many people really think he is telling the truth. And that pernicious influence has severely corrupted political "thinking" in America. Also, my comments were in reply to James' statement:
Quote:
James Davis wrote:

And I think that idea needs to be addressed. There are people who believe that at least attempting to discover what is really true and reporting that to the public is a worthy thing. Admittedly, Journalism has always carried a strain of red-herring misinformation, but that does not mean that "all" journalism is nothing more than a football-style effort to carry a partisan argument down the field. Many reporters have risked their very lives to get at and bring back real facts so that people can be "informed" in their thinking. That includes things like properly quoting people and giving both sides of the argument.
Rush's hallmark is to take a tiny piece of a quote out of context, blow it out of proportion, twist it, spin it and knock it down with a partisan slogan that isn't even an argument. It's just a saying.
And sadly, many people think "Well, he's just doing the same as everyone else."
Believe me, Rush would not risk his life for anyone or anything. He will find where his bread is buttered and lap up the butter, no matter what it's made of.

But he will also take something he KNOWS to be true and important and will obfuscate it and present it as skillfully as he can with the full intent of persuading uninformed people that this true thing is false. He will be remembered not only as a blustering idiot but as someone similar to Tokyo Rose or Lord Whatchacallit, who misinformed the British so willfully during the war. He has willfully contributed to the division of the nation for his own profit and the result has been deeply damaging for the entire world.
Thanks for your reply.

Re: Rush Limbaugh
As much as I'd like to blame Limbaugh for all the ills of American politics, I believe it is the money that is the biggest culprit in the corruption of our politicians and the environment they live in. As well as the nation that they then give us.
