Smile Howdy:

My name's Dave. I study Aikido with a club at my university, The University of Central Oklahoma. We call ourselves the UCO Budo Society. I have been studying for nearly two years and have reached Ikyu. I hope to attain Shodan in a couple of months.

We study primarily Geist's original "version" of Tomiki (i.e. pre-Kihara) with a little bit of Aikiki and other things sprinkled in for "flavor".

As a former karateka, I had a bit of a hard time at first with the "softness" of aikido. However, now I really like it a lot. I love the notion that "slower is faster" and "softer is harder" and other such paradoxes. I look forward to studying Aiki for a lifetime.

This seems to be a great site and a great board and I look forward to many fruitfull discussions. Perhaps, if I'm fortunate, I'll get to hook up with some of you on a mat somewhere.

DAVE
