It's snowing here in Mass intro

Hello,

It's snowing here in Mass, and I'm looking out of the window at the big, fat flakes even as I write this. Yesterday I was examining the snowdrops and pussy willow buds. March. Not much more to be said.

I have practiced Aikido for fourteen years and haven't felt much pull to explore the world outside my dojo, until now. I am writing a young adult novel and the main character is a seventeen-year-old Aikidoka who has practiced since childhood. So her Aikido experience is different from my own, and I need a place to explore the possibilities. This seems to be the right place...

I look forward to what I may find.

Jocelyn

Re: It's snowing here in Mass intro

Welcome Jocelyn,
I am longing for reading aikido related stories. So whatever you publish here is welcome and I hope, when you are ready, you will tell us, that we can buy the book.

Just excuse my bad English, but I like to clarify. You are writing a ovel about a young adult aikidoka or will it be an "adult novel", i.e. some pornographic or extreme violent content?

Regards Dirk

I imagine its means a book for teenagers (so ligh on pornography, unfortuanately). Sounds like a good idea, I've often mulled over the idea of a screenplay about budo training in the modern world.

They're all screaming about the rock n roll, but I would say that it's getting old. - REFUSED.

Hi Jocelyn,

Welcome from Nashville, TN and good luck with the book. Keep us informed.

Harmony does not mean that there are no conflicts,
for the dynamic spiral of existence embraces both extremes.

Nick,
If you do the screenplay do we all get parts in it?

Re: It's snowing here in Mass intro

good luck with the novel! I look forward to reading it.

There's a young 17 year old girl who occasionally joins in my class who's been practising since young. Her dad is one of the senior yudansha too so they usually come together. One of her charteristics aside from an incredibly supple body and hence great ukemi is that she's always got her hair completely in place, something I've never been able to achieve . We have these very funny moments on the mat where we look at each other girl to girl and she says those rolls will mess up her hair as we wait for our turn to be thrown. Doesn't of course stop her from doing anything on the mat but it feels like one of those "legally blonde" moments.
