Practice spinning shikko. As you knee walk, when you plant the forward knee, spin tenkan on that knee. You'll get better in a hurry.

I used to do that too. Time and practice will make you better.

Re: shikko tenkan for katatatori sankyo

I got really dizzy spinning before. lol
Then I figured I was doing it very wrong.

Every move is about control, I guess. I put the majority of my weight on the balls of my feet when stepping or changing direction. I feel more in control and more able to articulate my movements. My knees are there for ballance, leverage while stepping, maintaining posture and pivoting. But most of my weight is on the balls of my feet, not my knees. I keep my hips and shoulders back over my center. Anytime when I have too much weight on my knees it means my body isn't lined up with my center, and I fall forward easily, and people will knock me over easily too.
So all together, I like a wide stance with good posture that focuses on big controlled movements.
Also, I had more trouble with knee walking because of muscle tone frankly. Doing it constantly builds the hips, pelvis and thighs. Building muscle strength and tone will increase your ability to articulate movement and keep balance.
