Re: Happy New Year
I did our traditional new years eve misogi and training last night. And, I was all ready to go to our traditional new years day misogi at the beach this morning. This is where we do some training and bokken practice on the beach, and then go into the 50 degree surf and perform shinkokyu. ANYWAY, I was leaving the house and took that last step off the porch and WHAM! I twisted my ankle badly. I let out some gratuitous expletives, picked up all my dropped gear, and hobbled back into the house. So, my NYD training consisted of alternating treatments of ice, arnica and ibuprofen.
Happy New Year!

Re: Happy New Year
Sorry to hear about your mis-step Devin! I hope your ankle heals well.
I lead my dojo in our New Years Misogi at the beach today. The weather was cooperative and the water temp was a balmy 53 F.! No ice cream headaches were reported after plunging in after Shin Kokyu, our traditional shinto practice. And to top off a really wonderful training day, my 5 month old puppy followed me in to the water and took his first full fledged swim and then caught a tiny body surfing micro-wave in to the beach (with a little help from momma). Everyone cheered and smiles were all around!
My students are so wonderful, training is so great, and I am so blessed!
Happy New Year to the Aikiweb Family!

Awww...baby's first body surf. Next thing you know, he'll be hanging out in hookah lounges and tattoo parlors.
What beach did you go to?

Re: Happy New Year
You people and your beaches. We were inside; outside temps were in the single digits with the wind chill taking them down quite a bit more. We put luminaria out in the snow in the dojo garden and shoveled the garden walk, and that was enough outdoor activities for us.
