Slow training, fast training, neither should keep your focus. If I were to choose between the two, I couldn't. Each seems equally hard to do.

Slow training is always important.

But as one grows more proficient, he should learn to practice with faster attackes too. The attack should be faster, but one should learn to rely on timing not on his own speed. This is one of the aspects of faster attacks - the timing window is narrower.

Fast? Slow?
Both speeds work timing.
Both speeds equally important.
Timing always important.

Re: Poll: How important is fast training in aikido?

Actually I've been thinking about why I was fast as a kid, and a putz now.

I learned to move correctly, guided by a meticulous instructor. I was only taught three techniques, and set loose (judo).

I think 'fast' comes from moving in a balanced way and from 'KISS' - keep it simple sally.

just thoughts
