Master Sam F.S. Chin in Portland, OR - Jan 23 & 24

Hey everybody, thought I'd post this in case anyone in the PNW is interested.

I Liq Chuan (literally translated as Mental-Physical Martial Art) is an internal art that has become known for its effectiveness as a martial art. The practice of I Liq Chuan develops the ability to react spontaneously to attacks, not relying upon pre-arranged responses, through its specialized partner practices of Spinning Hands & Sticky Hands.

This will be Master Sam F.S. Chins FIRST visit to the Pacific Northwest!

This weekend Master Sam Chin, and assitant instructor Ashe Higgs, will guide us in learning how to develop specific qualities the internal arts are known for, through solo exercises and partner practice.

Jeremy--

The link Ashe posted doesn't have the costs. Here is what I found out:

Contact: Eugene Semenov
Email: esemenov@comcast.net
Contact phone: 503-260-6412

Both days: $250.00
One day $150.00

Early bird registration before 1/1/2010:
$200.00 for both days and $125.00 for 1 day.

There is not a specific schedule yet, but the list of topics includes:

1. Taiji & Ch'an (Zen) approaches to learning.

2. Understand, both mentally & physically, five qualities essential to the internal arts:

* Absorb & Project
* Open & Close
* Condense & Expand
* Concave & Convex
* 3-D Action

3. To express the above qualities with a partner through I Liq Chuan's specialized Spinning Hands & Sticky Hands practice.

4. Strategies of action in dealing with an opponent.

5. Engaging the point of contact. What? How?

I'm guessing that the topics will be presented in roughly the order shown, but which topics are presented on Saturday versus Sunday may depend on the learning rate of the attendees. Eugene, the organizer, would have more specific information.
