Alexander Technique

So here's a question:
1) Does anyone here know of Alexander technique? 2) study Alexander technique? 3) use Alexander technique to help their Aikido?

I've had a little exposure to it and I find it very helpful.

I had no clue what you were talking about until I read its desciption in another post.

It reminded me of the Four Feathers saga, the Whirling Dervishes, and Fuzzy Wuzzy's?

Fight techniques hidden within the actual irony of the words?

These days, I have natural imbalance to fight, let alone inviting it to be. Although I was tempted to incurr the Merry-go-round training.

Drink a pitcher of water, then spin on a merry-go-round until you throw up. The spinners have to dodge without getting wet?

Boy, we were mean little kids when I was a kid?

My very good friend, Pete Trimmer Sensei, 6th Dan and Chief Instructor of the Aikido Shobukan dojo in Washington , DC now that Saotome sensei is in Florida is an Alexander technique instructor.

Efficient, ergonomic method of movement, promoting proper joint lubrication and body allignment to relieve stress and body aches?

Or did I read the articles on the Alexander method website wrong?

Thanks for the answer about Pete Trimmer Sensei, I'll try to contact him.

The problem with Alexander technique is that you have to really do it to learn it (in the way that you have to practice Aikido to learn it. Books are just candy or toppings in comparisson.) in part since that was the original teacher's philosophy; he knew that it would be like trying to explain ki through words as opposed to practice. =)

In another year or so I'll probably end up in Tucson AZ and have a chance to pursue the topic in practice, but until then.

Yes, IMHO, the Alexander technique is an excellent training technique for posture in Aikido. The example is like pull a traing forward by the engine to align the car. So, pulling the head up from the middle provide more space between the vertebraes and aligns the spine for better posture and balance.
