No.
But they are very important to me.

Re: Poll: Are your aikido friends your main social community in your life?
Other than Janet, who is the best "internet date' I've ever had, nope. My dojo is not very social, though some of us are now having lunch together after Saturday training, to make an attempt at building more of a sense of community.
And like Lynn says, my dojomates are very Important to me.

Yes. While I do have plenty of non-aikido friends, I spend more time with and/or talking to or emailing or IM-ing with dojo friends. I train six days a week, so it only makes sense that that would be so.
Besides the dojo, school, my new job, and my kids, I don't have a lot of social time, ha!

Re: Poll: Are your aikido friends your main social community in your life?
When I had to move away from my dojo because of work I cried like a baby. Although I knew I could study in the city I was moving to I knew it would never be the same.
I am now back at the original dojo and very happy. We like to call ourselves a family and like most families we have our disagreements and there are some people I get on with better than others but I wouldn't be without them again for the world.
So I guess in answer to the question - yes they are the main social community in my life but they are also a lot more than that.

Well put Rob, could not agree more!
At the moment they are yes. That's because aikido is my social time away from studying and a whole load of hours spent at work. That's not to say I do not "socialise" with people outside of aikido as my family and to a lesser degree my work colleagues are people I also chose to spend free time with. but they are the ones I have more laughs with.
