Toby Threadgill Sensei in Newark, NJ, April 11-14, 2013

We're just about a month out from Threadgill Sensei's third visit to NJIT in Newark, NJ (April 11-13).

The format will be slightly different this year, to the extent that we will be focusing exclusively on shoden omote kata of the Shindo Yoshin Ryu (both taijutsu and kenjutsu) rather than adaptations keyed to common openings from other arts. The seminar is open to individuals who are not affiliated with TSYR, but all attendees should be prepared for a series of classes which are TSYR specific, by design.

All participants should bring a bokuto with tsuba and a tanto.

The schedule, which is subject minor variations, is as follows:

April 11, Thursday, 6-9
April 12, Friday 10-1 and 3-6
April 13, Saturday 10-1 and 3-6

The fee for the seminar is $200. To secure your spot on the mat, please reply via e-mail, followed by payment, either by Paypal to kokumo.fred (at) gmail.com account or by sending a check made out to Fred Little to:

PO Box 614
Palisades, NY 10964

As in the past, we are recommending that out-of-town guests secure lodging at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel, which is within safe and convenient walking distance from NJIT. If you opt for another lodging option, please ask before you book. Many parts of Newark have undergone a spectacular transformation, but this is not universally true and there are some neighborhoods that are not recommended lodging or transit zones for the short-term visitor.

Hope to see you on the mat next month!
